On 1 July, 2010 mandatory continuing professional development (CPD) in Dentistry became a fact of life for all clinicians (please refer to the Dental Board of Australia).

Given rural and regional dental clinicians are very busy indeed, added to which was the complication of CPD courses being capital city-centric (the ‘Tyranny of Distance’), finding time to attend professional educational meetings and seminars was certainly problematic.

Therefore, in 2010, Odonton Pty Limited was established with the aim of helping rural and regional dental clinicians meet their professional registration requirements by providing high quality, comprehensive, timely dental CPD in a convenient regional location: initially Port Macquarie, New South Wales, and subsequently, Canberra.
